The jury will return for a fourth day of deliberations this morning as they’re still trying to decide the fate of 17 year old Faheem Abdul-Jaleel who’s accused of stabbing his 13 year old year old cousin in the neck 12 times. Abdul-Jaleel is charged with second degree attempted murder and first degree assault for allegedly stabbing 13 year old Samina Qasim after an argument last June. Authorities say after the incident he then tied her up and left her behind a trash can in the garage of the family’s Henrietta home.

Meanwhile, the defense argued that Qasim was the aggressor in the argument which led to the stabbing and that Abdul-Jaleel was acting in self-defense. The prosecution says Abdul-Jaleel is much stronger than Qasim and did not need to use – quote – “excessive force”. If convicted Abdul-Jaleel is facing up to 25 years in prison.

The family of an elderly Irondequoit woman who died after plunging her car into the Genesee River is suing the Rochester Yacht Club alleging the club negligently failed to protect drivers from driving off its roadway into the water. Officials say 85 year old Bernice Ferenc was last seen alive the morning of February 12th, 2009 when she stopped for groceries at the Wegmans on East Ridge Road. Her disappearance sparked two massive searches involving hundreds of volunteers. Ferenc’s vehicle was finally discovered in late May of 2009 after independent divers notified Irondequoit police of an obstruction in the river channel at the yacht club. Ferenc’s body was found still seat-belted behind the wheel of the car.
