The Webster teenager facing murder and arson charges was arraigned yesterday. 15 year old Michael Pilato is accused of setting fire to his family’s home in Webster earlier this month. He’s charged with six counts of second degree murder, two counts of attempted second degree murder and one count of arson. According to court documents Pilato admitted to police that he poured gasoline in his Cardile Drive home and started a fire with the intention of killing his family. Michael’s father, Carmen and his two brothers Peter and Joshua died in the blaze.

Meanwhile, in court yesterday defense attorney Andre Vitale said his client is still a very confused young man. Pilato is being held without bail in a juvenile detention facility. His defense attorney expects the case will go to trial.

A 23 year old Rochester man was seriously injured when he was shot in the head last night. The man was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital for treatment of what were described as life-threatening injuries. According to Officer Stephen Scott, the man is listed in guarded condition. Officers on patrol near Avenue D and Bauman Street heard four to five gunshots and then went to the scene. When they arrived they found the victim lying on the sidewalk. Police are continuing their investigation into the shooting at at this point have no suspects of motive for the case.

A Genesee County man has been sentenced to 10 years behind bars for setting his fathers house in LeRoy on fire over the summer, injuring himself and one other person. 42 year old Paul Atkinson admitted to intentionally setting the fire on the morning of June 13th while two people slept inside. One of those people had to jump to safety. Atkinson was charged with second degree arson. He will serve 10 years behind bars and five years of post release supervision.

A 45 year old man has been arrested and charged with distributing and possessing child pornography. According to the U.S. Attorney’s office, Douglas Bedient of Rochester allegedly exchanged and distributed images and video that contained child pornography on the Internet. If convicted Bedient is facing up to 30 years in prison and a 500 thousand dollar fine.

Meanwhile, officials also say the case against Bedient is part of Project Safe Childhood, a national effort which works with federal, state and local agencies to better locate, apprehend and prosecute people who exploit children on the Internet.
