Food Sense Program

Food Sense is a cooperative food purchase program administered by Catholic Charities of Wayne County. Volunteers from the Newark Rotary help unload the delivery truck each month and distribute the food to Food Sense customers. Individuals pre-pay for a ‘unit’ of food, $15.50 in cash or Food Stamps. There are no income eligibility requirements and a person came come ‘in’ and ‘out’ of the program at any time.

Things To Do This Weekend – Friday, May 25, 2012 – Memorial Day Weekend

***It’s Memorial Day Weekend with many communities celebrating parades and other festivals. Of course one of the main celebrations takes place at Waterloo, the birthplace of Memorial Day. For more information on the weekend activities visit Waterloo NY Dot Com.

1) The ROC City Rib Fest is underway this weekend at Ontario Beach Park. Festival goers can enjoy an assortment of ribs, check out the rib competition, see live entertainment and more!

2) The Red, White and Blue Balloon Rally is on this weekend at Letchworth State Park. Weather permitting – Friday 6:30pm; Saturday & Sunday 6:00am and 6:30pm; Monday 6:00am. Admission is free with the park’s $8 per car entry fee.

3) THe U.S. Army Field Band Jazz Ambassadors join the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra in a Memorial Day tribute this weekend in Kodak Hall at Eastman Theatre.

5) The National Lake Trout Derby on Seneca Lake is this weekend. Weigh stations are located in Geneva, Sampson State Park and Watkins Glen.
